We’re asked a lot of questions about skips and skip hire every day, so we thought it would be useful to collate the most common queries and answer them here on our website.
Indeed, you can. We’re very flexible about hire duration, because we know that everyone has individual needs.
You can put all sorts of items in a skip for removal, including wood, soil, rubble, plastic, metal, garden refuse, furniture, cardboard and bricks. There are some items that are not allowed though, mostly hazardous waste like asbestos, gas cylinders, chemical waste, medical waste, tyres, fluorescent bulbs, paint and plasterboard. Electrical goods are also a big no-no, including fridges, TVs and computers. Contact your local Council to arrange for disposal of hazardous waste and electrical items.
No, you don’t need a permit to have a skip on private property, but if it is to be left on public property (roadside, verge or pavement) you’ll need permission from the local authority. We can see to that for you if necessary.
Yes, we offer a wait and load service on request for those who need it, usually in places where it’s not possible to leave a skip overnight.
All our skips are marked with a fill line, and should not overflow past this because of the danger of waste falling off during the removal process. It’s therefore important to gauge how much waste you’ll have and how big a skip you’ll need to accommodate it. We can give you advice about which size to choose.
We can provide you with a door drop skip, which opens in the front to allow easy access.
Yes we do, in certain sizes. Speak to us to find out more.
Yes … we accept all credit and debit cards for skip hire.
We do, because it is easier for us to collect segregated waste – like a skip full of bricks, tree cuttings, or soil – which doesn’t need sorting at our waste material transfer facility where we separate waste for recycling. Speak to us about the savings that can be made. We are able to offer skips for filling with scrap metal for no charge because we recoup the value of the scrap.
When we collect a full skip it is taken to our licensed Waste Transfer Station, where everything is hand sorted for recycling. We manage to recycle around 95% of the waste we collect.
We have skips suitable for domestic, commercial and industrial waste. Sizes range from mini two-yard skips to large 14 yard size skips, and we have extra large roll on/roll off skips for large amounts of waste.
We certainly do. If you need a regular delivery and collection service, speak to our friendly team and we’ll arrange a bespoke contract that suits your needs and budget.
